September 4, 2010 – WVU Freshman EngineerFest
The WVU EcoCAR team attended WVU Freshman EngineerFest, where we spoke with freshman engineers about the competition and the architecture of the vehicle. There is no doubt that we also provided sage advice that will help guide these youngsters for years to come.



October 1, 2010 – Rivesville FallFest
The team traveled to Rivesville, WV to participate in the annual Rivesville FallFest. The team spoke with hundreds of citizens from the fine town of Rivesville about the EcoCAR competition and the design of our vehicle. We were so well received that they were asked to speak to the 7th and 8th grade students at Rivesville Elementary/Middle School!

October 15, 2010 – NAFTC WVU Odyssey Day
The WVU team was invited to participate in NAFTC’s 2010 Odyssey Day at WVU, a biannual alternative fuel vehicle (AFV) expo. The team was joined by AFVs from around campus and from competitions past to showcase the new (and old) technologies which have been created in the name of limiting gasoline consumption and decreasing greenhouse gas emissions. We spoke with dozens of passersby about the architecture of the vehicle as well as the competition. There were some excellent questions posed about the vehicle from consumers. It wasn’t all business, though; we almost won an iPod in a raffle and almost lost a Frisbee to the NRCCE building.



October 22, 2010 – WVU Homecoming Parade
We were able to enter our vehicle into the 2010 Homecoming Parade. What a fun event this was, as the engineers were very excited at the prospect of handing out candy along the parade route. They were too eager, in fact, as we almost ran out of candy by the time we made it halfway to the bottom of High Street! There were tons of people in attendance and we had an amazing experience!



October 24, 2010 – IIE WVU Trunk or Treat
The WVU team was at it again, this time at the Institute of Industrial Engineers’ third annual Trunk or Treat. The event was held at the Shell Building by the WVU Coliseum due to rainy weather, but there was still an amazing turnout! We were allowed to pull the EcoCAR into the event so that the Trunk or Treaters could still view it. Many people were interested in the vehicle, and they were kept well informed. We had a blast looking at all the costumes, especially Lego Boy!



October 29, 2010 – ASME WVU Pumpkin Drop
We were in attendance in two places at the American Society of Mechanical Engineers’ Pumpkin Drop. We had people at the event and we had people visiting our lab. We had a blast showing people around the lab, and there were plenty of people who were interested in the vehicle!

November 6, 2010 – WVU High School Visitation Day
In a college tradition, we were able to bring prospective college students into the EcoCAR lab to show them the type of competition they could be working on if they came to WVU. The kids were very interested in seeing the lab and were not disappointed!
